Fast, accurate, on-site molecular diagnostics for pig health.
Why it matters
Australia’s pig farming industry faces challenges with disease management, especially at the weaner stage where outbreaks can spread quickly. Sick pigs continue eating but don’t gain weight efficiently, which disrupts feed conversion, delays growth, and increases production costs.
What regular screen testing delivers
- Earlier detection at the weaner stage helps limit outbreaks.
- Fewer sick pigs improve feed efficiency and reduce waste.
- Shorter production cycles keep batches on schedule.
- Lower recovery costs support healthier herds and profitability.
How it works in under 1 hour
- Sample prep with TNA-Cifer Reagent E (~10 min): Prepares DNA and RNA without costly cartridge systems and reduces biohazard risk.
- Fast, portable RT-qPCR (~45 min): Optimised for speed and accuracy while maintaining reliability of PCR diagnostics.
- Robotic automation: Lightweight handler enabling decentralised, supervised testing and higher throughput.
High Sensitivity
Testing has shown high sensitivity for detecting Salmonella spp. across pig faeces sample types, with detection levels as low as ~0.3 CFU/µL. Higher concentrations of faeces do not affect sensitivity, allowing reliable performance in challenging conditions.

Driving better outcomes for producers
- Reduce losses: Act early to reduce outbreak impact.
- Improve welfare: Support weaner health and minimise spread.
- Optimise efficiency: Maintain feed conversion and keep growth on track.
Common questions (FAQs)
How many samples can we run in a day?
Throughput can be up to 48 samples/hr with simple automation.
Can we test multiple pathogens?
Yes — the workflow is compatible with additional PCR assays. Speak with our team about your panel.
What training is required?
Brief on-farm training covers sample handling, prep, run, and reporting.
How do we manage biohazard risk?
TNA-Cifer Reagent E inactivates pathogens during prep; standard PPE and disposal procedures apply.
